BioMy name is Laura, twenty years old, Durham University student, South Yorkshire-born, Nottinghamshire-residing. I'm a would-be novelist who has just begun her third novel, which is set in the Lake District and features a very engimatic, nameless man. I am a big fan of poetry, especially Blake, and decently-written literature. My favourite living author is Joanne Harris, and my favourite dead author is Emily Bronte. I love 16th and 17th Century British history, though I have a growing fondness for 19th and 12th also. I am writing my dissertation of Anne Boleyn and the way she is viewed through the centuries. (a.k.a why idiots like Philippa Gregory think she was a witch with six fingers).
I am a big fan of the Beatles but also love Snow Patrol, U2 and the Killers. I also have a never-ending fondness of Madonna.
I am a horse rider who is learning to jump at the moment. Usually once a week I'll post an update about my progress, especially if it went well or if I fecked up big time. I also do a lot of walking and am trying to get back into cycling - now that I am an NT member and so can get free parking for Musher! That's another thing I do: history trawls, mainly through the midlands, Yorkshire and Northumbria, now with a little sticker of an acorn attached to my electric blue Ford KA, and a Granny in tow that's politely going: "Now, Laura, take your time going around this corner/into this tight parking spot". I love my Grandma!
Anything else? I am a student of History and English at Durham University. So, yea. That's great! My final year next year. I travel a lot, too. Last summer I visited China, Australia and New Zealand. This summer I hope to go to Ireland to catch myself an Irishmen.
